Although it does not provide the rich interaction of the HTML Reporter, its machine-readable format is essential to make automatic quality gates and continuous feedback work. You can download the XML JUnit Report file and upload it to various analytics tools to view data in a more refined presentation.

Multiple Reports in the Configuration File

With Playwright, you’re not restricted to a single report format, so you can meet a variety of requirements. Thanks to this adaptability in reporting, you can assign multiple reporters at once to the configuration file and define them on the console terminal. In the configuration file write:

This behavior is not related to any code changes. Naturally, this type of software testing does not contribute to overall Quality Assurance. In other words, it prevents teams from effectively reaching their objectives.

Key characteristics of flaky tests include:
  • Inconsistency of results. Flaky tests produce unreliable outcomes, as their results fluctuate regardless of code changes.
  • Unreliable test status. Assessing a product with flaky tests is inherently unreliable, as the results cannot be trusted. The Pass and Fail statuses fluctuate randomly with each retry, making them unpredictable and difficult to interpret.
  • Dependence on external factors. These tests are extremely vulnerable to external dependencies, including environment variables, system configurations, third-party libraries, databases, external APIs, and more.

  • Tests that rely on external services or API can become unstable.
  • Problems with data consistency or synchronization can arise if testing is related to a database or external storage.
  • System issues. Issues like high server load or memory overload can undermine stability.
  • Device dependency. Instability may also arise from problems related to hardware availability.

  • Sprint Report. This report contains a list of Jira issues for a specific sprint. It’s helpful to generate this report before a retrospective for in-depth analysis of results. It also helps track project progress when the sprint is still ongoing.
  • Velocity Chart. This chart displays the team’s velocity, or in other words, the team’s productivity during a sprint – the value they can deliver in one iteration. By calculating velocity over time, you can predict future performance and determine how much work is realistic for your team.

Before exploring how to run WebdriverIO tests with test management, first of all, the prerequisites mentioned below have to be met.

Check the NodeJS version, enter the following commands:

Install NodeJS or update the NodeJS, by entering the following command in project directory:

#1 Create a new test project

Start by Sign Up or Sign In to the TMS, and then create your test project by honouring the system tips. We begin by writing the project name and choosing a classical type of project, as in the picture below. You may configure your WebDriverIO test project using different settings according to your testing frameworks, such as Chai or Mocha, JavaScript language or TypeScript, classical project or BDD. You will bump all these options as we go along.

After you create your project, get into it. Select Import Automated tests on the dropdown menu in the top right corner. Thanks to the Advanced Importer you can import your automated tests to the test management system with a few clicks and make them visible there for the whole team.

Configure import according to your testing project. For instance, we chose a project using WebDriverIO with Mocha and JavaScript option.

#2 Generate API key and import autotests

Our TCMS is a wise tool. TCMS recognizes your laptop OS and generates a command with API key according to it. You should copy this command and execute it on CMD. This one uploads your WebdriverIO tests from source code to test management. Generate API key and import autotests

Look at the console, how the importer analyzes code accurately and displays the number of founded tests in the test framework. If you enter your project, you will see these tests. You can view their structure by expanding the tree. You may enter your suites and check test cases inside.

Now you can synchronize your manual tests alongside automated tests scripted with WebdriverIO in one place and get aggregated test result reports and analytics. Even the number of tests increases significantly – custom labels and tags help organize them conveniently. Sort, Change order, Filter and Search test cases quickly in scale.

Please note: with each new import, the intelligent importer will analyze test cases present in it or not. If there are no new test cases in the test management system yet, you will add new ones. These tests will be marked as out of sync by TCMS. Vice versa, if they are not in code, they will be marked as detached test cases. You might check them and delete unnecessary tests.

#3 How do I create a report in Wdio?

Track test results to test management with our advanced reporter. Test management testomat.io reporter connects with WebdriverIO an open-source test automation tool. Copy and paste this command into CMD to install reporter:

#4 Configure .conf file:

We suggest adding our reporter (test management plugin) along with existing reporters in wdio.conf.js. For this purpose copy configuration suggested by TMS to the project which can find out in the DEMO project as well.

#5 Execute WebdriverIO scripts

You are ready now to run your WebdriverIO tests with test management. Execute WebdriverIO scripts and receive results synced in test management.

Run the following command from your project folder:

Once the tests have finished running, the CLI will generate a report link. Test results will appear through the console on the test management dashboard. Share this test result link with stakeholders by email or messengers. Choose whom available detailed report. The type of public report does not contain security-sensitive info.

What are Heat Maps?

A Heat Map (or Heatmap) is a graphical 2-dimensional format representation of data where values are depicted by color.

Heat maps make it easy to visualize complex data and understand it at a glance.

In other words, Heatmaps is about replacing numbers with colors because the human brain understands visuals better than numbers, text, or any written data.

What are Heat Maps

In Software Testing color give visual cues about how data are clustered or varies over the testing process.

Heatmaps can describe the density or intensity of variables, visualize patterns, variance, and even anomalies. Heatmaps show relationships between variables.

Color variation gives visual cues to the readers about the magnitude of numeric values.

These Heatmaps are data-driven “paint by numbers” canvas overlaid on top of an image. The cells with higher values than other cells are given a hot color, while cells with lower values are assigned a cold color.
